Contest Winners 2016 1

Congratulations to the Galano Family of New York, our 2016 Host Family of the Year!

The Galano Family was nominated by their au pair for this award because they have gone above and beyond, to ensure that she has had a wonderful American experience. From making her feel like a big sister to their children to introducing her to friends and family, the Galano family embraces the cultural exchange program to its fullest! From listening to her talk about her fears and concerns, the Galano Family has truly made her feel comfortable and safe in their home. In addition to their recognition as Host Family of the Year, they received a $500 credit to be used toward their program fees! Congratulations!

Congratulations To Our 2 Second Place Winners!

The Dowd Family of Vermont - Nominated By Nadia G. From Bolivia

The Dowd family has always embraced the true meaning of the cultural exchange program by respecting the differences they have with their au pairs and always being patient with them. They include their au pair in all their family activities and meals, and love sharing American culture with her. They take interest in her life and always ask about how she is feeling. As our previous Host Family of the Year, the Dowd family is no stranger to this contest! WAY TO GO on being nominated again and placing second. You truly are a fantastic host family!

The Waldron/Yoshimura Family - Nominated By Ai S. from Japan

Not only has the Waldron/Yoshimura family exposed Ai to all different aspects of American culture, they have also shown her the true meaning of being a caregiver. Through their kindness and attentiveness to their children, she has learned about their character and how important it is to be a responsible and caring role-model! They have included her in family gatherings on holidays, and provided her the opportunity to get to know family members outside of the nuclear family. Thank you for truly making Ai feel at home!

If you are not completely satisfied with your au pair match, we will assist you in finding a new au pair or provide a refund.

When a host family chooses Au Pair International for their childcare needs, it is normally for the long run. Our participants' satisfaction and the long term friendship we develop with our host families is why we love what we do.

Proof that our host families are satisfied is found in our high satisfaction rating, low number of host families requesting a "re-match", high number of families continuing hosting Au Pair International au pairs for years and our high referral rate. In fact, the majority of our host families have been referred to us by friends, family and colleagues of current host families.

However, every family is different and has different schedules and child care needs. If your experience is not everything you expected it to be, we welcome the opportunity to fix it by providing a new au pair or a refund according to our refund calculation schedule. After all, we are in it for the long run.

What Our Host Families Say

  • John - CO

A little over two years ago, I lost my wife Patty to cancer. With a huge hole in our home from the loss of Patty, Svetlana stepped in and helped Bryce feel loved and cared for during a situation that is difficult to imagine and understand. She has seen us through many tears and sadness, but brought so much safety and comfort into our home. I honestly don’t know how we could have made it the past few years without her.

  • LindseyMary

    Lindsey - CA

Mary Luisa or lulu as we call her entered our family at a challenging time in early July. I was 7 months pregnant and our son was starting to act out as he realized a new baby was on the way. Rocket met Mary and instantly fell in love. He was so excited his new best friend would be living in our house. From day one lulu stepped in and has been there for our son and helped make the new baby transition easier on the whole family.

  • Ornela

    Keith - MD

It was a very terrifying thought for me to entrust my children to someone else, but I can say with whole hearted enthusiasm, we really "hit the jackpot" with Ornela. She has taken our twins from speaking greek words to being completely bilingual! To see the confidence and ability that they have is in a large part dedicated to her. We can truly see the pride and love that she has for Georgia and Peter. Ornela has really become a part of our family, not just an au pair.

  • NozomiStevenson

    The Stevenson Children - MD

These past four months with our au pair have been the best experience ever! She even rode the Tower of Terror at Disney World with us three times. Tell us how many au pairs will do that for their host family kids! Our au pair is very special and we love her just like a family member. She does so much for our family and we just want to tell everyone how awesome she is to us!

  • Effie

    Patricia

We feel fortunate as parents to have Effie in our family, especially in our busy lives when being away from home and the children during the day can often be very stressful. She makes our life easier, giving us the confidence that our kids are safe, in good hands and with the right direction!

  • Lissy

    Audrey - FL

Lissy has exceeded every expectation we had for an au pair and has become just like another family member. I have said time and time again that you guys must do an amazing job screening these applicants. Although now I would have a hard time doing this again because I don't know if we could ever top Lissy!

  • MaureenSatoko

    Maureen - MI

We have had several au pairs in our home and we feel very glad and are very lucky that Satoko came to us. I don't want to jinx anything because this is only the second week but I can tell you that Satoko is golden. We are grateful to Au Pair International for introducing her to us!
