Program Details

  • Caring for the host family’s children
  • Engaging the children in games and educational activities
  • Taking the children to and from school and other activities
  • Preparing meals and snacks for the children
  • Babysitting in the evenings as needed by the host family
  • Performing light household work such as tidying up, laundry, and daily grocery shopping.

Short Stay Program 

  • Pocket Money of 80 EUR/week
  • 2 Days Off per week

Long Stay Program

  • Pocket Money of 110 EUR/week
  • One week of Paid Vacation every 6 months (two weeks per year). 
  • 1.5 Days Off per week

Short Stay Program 

  • Placement Fee of $395 ($95 due at application and remainder due upon match)
  • Airfare to and from Italy
  • Criminal background check
  • Health and/or travelers insurance

Long Stay Program

  • Placement Fee of $495 ($95 due at application and remainder due upon match)
  • Airfare to and from Italy
  • Federal criminal record check
  • Cost to obtain a visa
  • Document processing/translation fees
  • Health and/or travelers insurance
  • Italian language courses for long-stay program participants (cost to attend is an estimated $2,000 for 6 months)

Short Stay Program 

  • 20 hrs/week
  • 2 days off/week

Long Stay Program 

  • Up to 30 hours/week 
  • 6 hours per day maximum
  • 1.5 days off per week
  • 2 weeks paid vacation for full-year stay

Participant Requirements

Qualifications
 
  • Between the ages of 18-30
  • Unmarried/ no children
  • Knowledge of the Italian language helpful, but not required, for short stay participants
  • An A1 or A2 Italian language level is required for long stay participants
  • Financial means to support yourself while on program
 

 

Experience
 
  • Possess a strong desire to work with children and become part of an Italian host family
  • Adequate and verifiable childcare and/or babysitting experience required
