Jenny AP. – Colombia

Dear host family, My name is Jenny Aldana Pedrozo, I am 25 years old. I have been in the United States for 1 month. I am in the state of Alabama. Currently, I am in a friendly rematch with my host family and they can give references about my work with his son. I am looking for my next host family to work as a team and build open communication. I am open to any state. The main features I have to offer and for which a family should consider me as their au pair is because I will give the best of myself to the children, helping them with love, tolerance, and respect. I will look after their well-being not only physically but also mentally. More than a nanny, I want to be a friend that your children can trust. In addition, I am very proficient in French, which allows your children to practice and learn French and Spanish in a personalized way through strategies that help them acquire the language in the long term. I also have culinary and domestic skills. In addition to my internship as a French teacher in 3 different institutions and by giving private lessons in English and French, I have a closer experience of the relationship with children as the older sister of 3 children. My sister Laura and brother Juan gave me the opportunity to learn how to care for them, help them with their homework, share games, and find ways or strategies to help them achieve their academic goals successfully. Along with the experience with my siblings, I have also taken care of my younger cousins when necessary. Some of the things I usually do when I take care of my cousins are preparing food, helping them with homework, playing with them, helping them bathe, preparing them for sleep, and telling them stories. Also, I take care of 2 girls 1 of 3 years and another 6 years whom I usually share enough time with since they are my neighbors, most of the time when I am with them we see children’s films, we sing, we play educational games, etc. On the other hand, I would like to be able to share with you the diversity of the festivities in my country, the exquisite gastronomy and cultural customs, and at the same time enjoy your diversity and rich culture. During my career as a foreign language student, I had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of teachers who went abroad to improve the language of their choice in a native place and care for children like Au Pair. Since I heard about it, the idea has attracted my attention, because from a very young age, not only have been interested in foreign languages, but I have also had experiences of strengthening children. Even, I remember my time in elementary school, the children in my class came to my home so that I could explain the subjects of the classes. My motivation to be an au pair is to have the experience not only to know a beautiful place, where I can improve my English but also to be able to use my teaching skills with the children. I want to be a guide and support in a good family. I am moved not only to see how much I will be able to learn from the country but also from the customs and traditions within your community through the family. Currently, my favorite hobby is exercise. I train in the morning to stay energetic and make the day more productive. I also like to read, whether on my mobile phone or in physical books, about personal growth, spirituality, personal finances, etc. Besides, I like to spend time with my family, friends, boyfriend and loved ones. Also, I like to enjoy new meals and travel. I like to be constantly growing, and I like to learn for myself how to teach what I know. Among my projects for the future, there is the possibility of creating a foundation for children in my country, which would help them express their creativity and build their capacities. But first, I want to grow professionally and personally. That’s why I think this experience can be very beneficial.
