Letter To My Future Host Family

Dear future host family,

My name is Laura, I’m 27 years old and I would like to be your next Au Pair.

I was born in a beautiful family. I have 2 sisters and I’m the oldest one, so I grew up supporting my parents to take care of my sisters. As well as I’m the oldest cousin in my family I used to help my aunts and uncles to care of my little cousins during the family meetings when we were younger.

I like traveling in my country and abroad so I have lived in USA and worked in a summer camp called Trail’s End Camp in Beach Lake, P.A. I have also been an Au Pair for 2 years since 2019, taking care of a girl who was 2 years old when I met her (nowadays she's 4 years old) and her little brother who is 7 months old. I spend the past 2 years as Au Pair with the same family.

I’m happy to let you know that I have enough experience working with children and I really love them and enjoy taking care of them because kids rock my world!

By working as a teacher, as a babysitter and as a Au Pair I have discovered that every kid is wonderful and teach us a lot of things about life and I also have develop the following useful skills to be part of this program:

How to treat kids under 6 years old. I know that these kids are developping their social and emotional skills, so they need to be guided and it’s important to introduce the world to them with love and magic.
How to treat kids older tan 6 years old. As these children are exploring their world and learning things such as reading, writing, add, subtract, multiply, and more, they need encouragement and be guided with love and order.
How to deal with tantrums. In these cases I try to tune in to the children’s feelings and make them feel loved, and then, I usually try to help children to reduce their stress levels by making them rest enough and talking with them about emotions.
How to take care of more tan 2 kids at same time.
How to teach and tutor kids with their homeworks.
How to guide kids to use the toilet by letting them set their own pace, and encouraging them to take responsibility, always making sure to avoid them to feel anxiety and stress.
Of course I also know that children always need that the person to take care of them keep a firm eye on them.
How to take care of kids under 2 years old.

In addition I can say that I love spending time with kids for doing activities such as read aloud to them and talk about the pictures in the books, talk with them in order to make them feel a real interest in them, play outdoor, sing to them and sing with them, go for a walk with them, make arts and crafts projects and help them to learn while they are playing.
I’m buzzing about being part of this program because I think one year sharing experiences with an international family and their kids would have as being on top of the world!
As you can see I am the best option to take care of your kids and make them have a ball! So I hope to know about you very soon!

Love,

Laura Avila
