Letter To My Future Host Family

*Updated Letter 2023*
Hello Dear host family! My name is Yamila Antonella Areco. I am 27 years old and I from Argentina. I define myself as an empathic, responsible and honest person. I have studied and worked at the same time before I became an au pair.In Argentina I used to live in Don Torcuato, city of the province of Buenos Aires which is the capital of my country. Province very active and attractive, with my family composed of my mother whose name is Mirtha, she has been a teacher for twenty three years. My younger brother whose name is German. He is 23 years old and also my pets which are two dogs and one cat. Now, I’m living in Fort Campbell, border between Tennessee and Kentucky, around forty minutes from Nashville with my actual host family where started my adventure to explore the culture and the country. My passion and what I like doing is travelling and knowing new places, I love travelling around a city as much as possible and during this year I had the opportunity to go in some states like Texas, New York, Georgia, Washington DC, Kentucky and for vacation I went to México.Another thing I enjoy very much is going to concerts and theatres as it is, for me, something amazing. It renews one’s soul and this year I will have the opportunity to go to two concerts in USA.Other thing I like is going out with my family and friends because I can spend good moments and memories with them. Also, in my spare time I like listening to music, watching series and movies and going to the gym as it is important to be healthy. Finally, I want to mention my love for the animals because they are our faithful companions and eternal friends. As regards my studies, I completed satisfactory my primary and secondary education. After that, I started a course to become a flight attendant and besides I did a seminar related to this.As regards languages, I have done a basic Portuguese course composed of four levels and I also studied English for four intensive years, and I keep doing it. I know these languages are necessary to accompany the work that I have chosen to dedicate myself. On the other hand, I really like spending time with children. My first experience was at the age of 16 as babysitter, where I took care of two little girls. I worked with them for four hours a day during the week for two years. My duties were to take care of them, cook the lunch for them if needed, try to get them to have a nap and help them with their homework. We also spend time playing games or watching cartoons, movies, etc. sharing always some snack or also preparing something so that it would become more entertaining.  Fortunately, the special affection I feel for my girls is so mutual that I can continue to keep in touch with them.My second experience was took care of a baby for about three months where my responsibilities were to prepare the baby’s formula, put him to bed, change his diaper, feed him with a bottle and play with things appropriate to his age. Sharing so much time together, we became close confidants. In my actual experience as au pair in USA, I am taking care of two girls of 6 and 3 years old where my duties are to prepare breakfast, drop them off and pick them up from school and daycare, take them to gymnastics, bathe them and help with dinner when necessary. I keep their clothes clean and their rooms in order. With respect to recreation I try to organize play dates with friends at different playgrounds or at their home or friends’ homes where they can have fun and spend time drawing, coloring or making crafts. Currently in May I started taking care of his 3 month old baby sister, where my duties are to feed her formula, change her diaper, bathe her, and make tummy time. Thanks to all my experiences as children career I found the Au Pair program so interesting. I knew it thanks to a friend who had applied too and she gave me a contact of an advisory to get more information. After that, we got in touch through Whatsapp and since that moment I never hesitated because it would be a great opportunity for personal growth. From that time until today I grew a lot personally and professionally, and I think I am ready to enjoy more time in the USA as an au pair. I am fully determined to fulfill the dream of my life and  I would like to continue exploring the culture, the country, improve my English and continue meeting people.I never doubted about the destination (the United States) because my friend that I have mentioned before shared with me her experience and I should also mention that both, her and the advisory cleared all my doubts and they were really helpful and motivating factors to choose this country. From the program I hope that it meets my expectations to gain valuable work experience, be more independent, traveling around the country and surroundings, learn about American culture, make a difference in the lives of kids who I will take care of, as I am sure they will leave an indelible mark on me, help me make new friends and improve my English. I believe very strongly that it is an amazing experience that no girl should miss. From my new host family I hope to achieve the confidence that I have with my parents who are calm and happy with me. I hope we can have a good time together, that they be respectful, loving and patient with me as I am going to be just like that with them. I have no preference over the size of the city. I am sure I am going to find a perfect family for me.I have high expectations about the time ahead. I am really looking forward to meeting my new host family and visiting my new city. And I hope to meet your expectations and you would remember me as a good au pair who was part of your lives. So I say goodbye, I hope that with this letter you may have an idea about me and my life. Perhaps we will meet in a short time.I hope to hear from you soon. All the best,Yamila Antonella Areco

Hello family! My name is Yamila Antonella Areco. I am 25 years old and I from Argentina. I define myself as an empathic, responsible and honest person. My younger brother whose name is German. He is 21 years old and I also have two pets which are two dogs and their names are Rocky and Frida. As I mentioned before, I live in Buenos Aires province which is capital of Argentina, very active an attractive as well as popular for the famous obelisk. Summers are characterized for the hot, humid and wet days and winters are distinguished by the cold and windy days. The temperatures are around between 8°C to 28°C but also theses can drop below 4°C and rises above 32°C. My passion and what I like doing is travelling and knowing new places, I love travelling around a city as much as possible and that’s why I had known several provinces of my country as well as one bordering country, Brazil. Another thing I enjoy very much is going to concerts and theatres as it is, for me, something amazing. It renews one’s energies and soul. Other thing I like is going out with my family and friends because I can spend good moments and memories with them. Also, in my spare time I like listening to music, watching series and movies, reading a book outdoor and taking advantage of the nature. I also like going to the gym as it is important to be healthy. Finally, I want to mention my love for the animals because they are our faithful companions and eternal friends. As regards my studies, I completed satisfactory my primary and secondary education at San José school in the year 2013. After that, I started a course to become a flight attendant in the institute named “Cedeba” during 12 months and finished it in the year 2016. Besides also I did a seminar related to this. As regards languages, I have done a Portuguese course composed of four levels and I also studied English, and I keep doing it. I know these two languages are necessary to accompany the work that I have chosen to dedicate myself. I began to study English in an institute named “British Cultural Institute” for four intensive years where I learnt so much about the language and also at the moment I am taking private lessons of conversation with a particular teacher. On the other hand, I really love spending time with children. This started when I only was 13 years old and I took care of my younger brother while my mother was working, who in that moment was 9 years old. My tasks to carry out were picking him up from the school, giving him lunch and cooking when it was necessary not forgetting to mention giving him a bath and putting him to bed at nap time as well as helping him with his homework in several occasions. My next formal childcare experience was at the age of 16 as babysitter, where I took care of two cute little girls whose their names are Ximena and Morena. I worked with them for four hours a day during the week for two years. My duties were to take care of them, cook for them if needed, try to get them to have a nap and help them with their homework. We also spend time playing games or watching cartoons, movies, etc. sharing always some snack or also preparing something so that it would become more entertaining. Fortunately, the special affection I feel for my girls is so mutual that I can continue to keep in touch with them. Finally, I took care of a baby for about three months where my responsibilities were to prepare the baby’s formula, put him to bed, change his diaper, feed him with a bottle and play with things appropriate to his age. Sharing so much time together, we became close confidants. In addition to these experiences of formal work, I have been in contact with many children between 1 and 12 years old who are part of my family as my brother, siblings of friends and cousins younger than me, who I looked after many times. We really had a great time with the kids besides I like spontaneity, playfulness, innocence, love that convey all the time and also I think that spending time with them is a journey through our own childhood. I learn a lot from them and with them. Also, I want to stand out my experience with the housework like cooking, keeping the house in order, doing the laundry and ironing the clothes, etc. I think the time is now, and I want to get started with the process as soon as possible. From that time until today I grew a lot personally and professionally, and I think I am ready to enjoy a year in the USA as an au pair. I am fully determined to fulfill the dream of my life and I like the idea of living in another country and also learn another culture, I am thrilled about travelling to another country, meeting new people, new places and practice and improve with native speakers. Also, I know I will really enjoy working with children. I never doubted about the destination (the United States) because my friend that I have mentioned before shares with me her experience and I should also mention that both, her and the advisory cleared all my doubts and they were really helpful and motivating factors to choose this country. From my new family I hope to achieve the confidence that I have with my parents who are calm and happy with me. I hope we can have a good time together, that they be respectful, loving and patient with me as I am going to be just like that with them. I also hope to be able to treat them as my parents, my “American parents”, and I hope to be treated as their daughter. I have no preference over the size of the city. I am sure I am going to find a perfect family for me. I have high expectations about the year ahead. I am really looking forward to meeting my new family and visiting my new city. And I hope to meet your expectations and you would remember me as a good au pair who was part of your lives. So I say goodbye, I hope that with this letter you may have an idea about me and my life.
